Meet Melissa Unger: The woman behind "Refined Fanatic"
Melissa Unger is a nationally known young hip entertainment journalist and female movie critic who not only critiques movies but gives insights into how movies are made and their place with in the industry, society, and history.
She is an admitted movie nerd, film critic, dog lover and soda junkie. Her past adventures have included writing for E! Online, AOL's Cambio and BuzzFeed, but her favorite article to date is "Does Hugh Jackman's Facial Hair Determine The Success of His films?" She has also been an on-camera host and video producer for News Corp's The Daily, AOL and Time Out Magazine. She has covered The Oscars, Sundance, the Toronto Film Festival, South By Southwest and San Diego’s Comic Con. Some of her celebrity interviews have included: Steven Spielberg, Tom Cruise, Natalie Portman and JJ Abrams, but she cites Tim Burton's go-to composer, Danny Elfman, as the dream interview she has yet to land.
Before getting her masters from Emerson College in journalism, she worked in production and post-production for MTV, independent films, and commercials. She hopes to bridge the gap between her fellow Bostonians and Hollywood. With her knowledge of film making, love of covering pop culture and movie news, she can never keep her opinions to herself when it comes to movies, no matter how much we ask.
